Who do we serve?

Doulas , please have a care who we accept money from.

Remember that we exsist in part as result of a system that is lethal to women / birthing people.

It will not serve those people for doulas to become part of or beholding to this system .

As challenging as this is under toxic capitalism- we must find a means to find ourselves outside of this countries system which is a toxic blend of government and corporation.

My hope if that we keep our minds on our pregnant citizens, and their children- that is where our allegiance lies.

Three Fold

The answer to our mortality issue is three fold:

1 women and gender expansive people who are willing to take full respondibity for the health of their bodies and thst of their offspring.

2 midwives who practice midwifery, fully trust women and gender expansive peoples bodies and who refrain from practicing obstetrics lite!

3 a society that truly has honors women and gender expansive people and believes that our wealth is found in the smiles of happy , nurtured children rather than in our bank account.

Midwifery isn’t compatible with telehealth !
Midwifery requires hearts, hands, ears and a soul paying exquisite attention to the mother / pregnant person and their child.
I’m watching mothers falling through the cracks in a way that should be considered medical malpractice!
But no- this is considered ”the new normal ”. Reject this people, our pregnant citizens deserve so much better! They and their children deserve to live!
The virus should not be used as an excuse to let the next generation down!

How do I get the American public to give more than a passing damn about the way women are being ravaged rather than being giving prenatal care and support in child birth!

Women / Birthing people are being , at the low end traumatized and at the high end set up for death… their children along with them .

It will not stop until women / birthing people stand up and refuse this assault.

They must call it out . They must tell their friends . They must help their friends birth in safe respectful settings: home, birth center .

They must stop believing that the problem is their bodies or their babies – it’s the poor excuse for prenatal care in the county that is the problem .

And always will be until folks stand up – and push back.

Don’t fret . Science is on your side !

A Piece of Cloth

A piece of cloth , whose history is imbued with the power , love , laughter and tears of millions of women spared my client from major abdominal surgery and potential life threatening side effects .

That happened. Yesterday .

I thank the mothers / ancestors who brought us the Rebozo … I thank you from the bottom of my heart .

Aim High

Why is disappointment radioactive for birthing women / people? In no other area of life do we advise each other to aim as low as possible because you “don’t want to be disappointed “.

Be brave – aim high . Chose your birth team and birth environment that will support your vision of the birth of your child .

Care for your body is such a way that the highest vision is not a pipe dream , but a solid , science based possibility.

Nature is in your side. Creative life force is on your side. God is in your side. Science is on your side. Our holy mother walks with you.

Give your body the right ingredients and give your self the right birth team . And trust the process .

Nothing is promised in life – not one more second is promised any of us. Yet the odds for a healthy momma / parent surviving birth are very high in the right environment and with a supportive mind set.

And if things do go according to your vision, it’s perfectly fine to be disappointed- looking at disappointment allows us to build a plan for the future choices . It allows us time to self reflect with love on our lives . Allows us to move towards acceptance of perhaps medical proceedures that were needed and life saving. It makes space for our community to sit with us and support us through our disappointment to the next step of our lives evolution .

I say let’s aim high – in birth as in the rest of life.

39 weeks

This morning a perfectly healthy pregnant woman showed up for her 39 week check up. After telling her that everything was perfectly healthy, the doctor went on to push an induction method. When the woman said no – the doctor asked her if she feared her (the doctor).
The woman said no, I’m not afraid of you, I simply see no need to rush my labor…

This is what should have happened this morning.

A perfectly healthy pregnancy woman showed up for her 39 week check. She’s praised for her brilliant good health and she’s inspired with the knowledge that all looks good for an organic and productive labor!

This system attempts to rob women of joy and courage and instead fills them with uncertainty and fear.

this is criminal abuse .

It must stop !
